Bosch in the United Kingdom

Candidate Journey series - Advanced apprenticeship scheme

Interview with Jessica Doyle

Jessica's story

My name is Jessica Doyle and I’m a recent Business Graduate from Devon who is currently working in finance at Worcester. I joined Bosch in July 2018 as the Direct Purchasing Intern. Upon completion of my internship, I worked part time in Purchasing and was an NSS Expert, supporting the NSS/BMS Implementation while I finished my final year at University.

Jessica shares on her career progress with the company

As I came to the end of my studies, I knew that Bosch was the company I wanted to start my career with. As soon as I saw a vacancy on the noticeboard, I spoke to my manager about it and she was able to start the process for me. It felt like a natural progression from my part time job and I was over the moon to be able to continue my journey with Bosch.

When starting the advanced apprenticeship position had you identified key development areas which you wanted to focus on? What were they?

Gaining my professional qualification to become a chartered management accountant was really important for me. I was also interested in gaining more exposure to the business and refining my analytical and business partnering skills.

Were you given the opportunity to focus on them?

Bosch have been nothing but supportive of my long & short term career goals. I’ve been invested in as a member of the team and my hard work has been recognised and rewarded. I am enrolled in accountancy classes and am currently working towards my CIMA qualification. As well as this, I’m involved in many key projects where I am trusted to provide key information for decision making. I have regular check in’s with my manager who supports wherever is necessary.

My apprenticeship has been completely different to what I originally anticipated. The pandemic changed the format of my learning but my manager and director have been really understanding of this and I’m still able to get the most from my apprenticeship.

Jessica Doyle - Advanced Apprentice

How would you rate your overall experience at Bosch?

In one of my first weeks as an Intern at Bosch, I went to a welcome day which the Managing Director spoke at. I remember him telling us all that you should treat your placement as a 12 month interview. He was right, you get out what you put in and that is one of the reasons that I’d rate Bosch as an outstanding employer. I’m hoping I will be able to stay on permanently when I finish my advanced apprenticeship.
