Bosch showcases connected fleet services at Fleet & Mobility Live at the NEC

Fleet & Mobility Live at the NEC

Denham, UK: Next month, Bosch will participate in the Fleet & Mobility Live event for the first time. Bosch has an extensive portfolio of software and services for the fleet market, and it will focus its participation at the event on its connected fleet services solutions. Fleet & Mobility Live will take place on 7-8 October at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

Bosch fleet services aim to maximise the amount of information fleet operators have about their vehicles, and to also maximise fleet uptime. Bosch offers a range of individual components and intelligent systems. Five of these connected fleet service products will be showcased at Fleet & Mobility Live.

RideCare: This is a retrofit device that adds a variety of monitoring functions to a vehicle. These include in cabin smoking detection, exterior damage, monitoring harsh driving, and using GPS to track mileage and the vehicle’s location. RideCare can be installed in a vehicle in 10 to 20 minutes, and the smoking detection function is the world’s first to operate without a camera. The solution can be combined with in-vehicle data from telematics service provider partners and integrated into the respective fleet software. Since RideCare was launched around five years ago, more than 10,000 data points have been collected globally.

Connectivity Hub: This is a retrofit connectivity solution that standardises data exchange between the vehicle, the cloud, and services. It’s designed for commercial vehicles of any size, as well as busses and coaches. It works across fleets of all sizes regardless of the variety of different vehicle manufacturers or models that make up the fleet. Examples of what the data can be used for include connected parking (which helps drivers find and pay for a parking space), battery in the cloud, firmware updates over the air, and life cycle powertrain services (which uses the cloud to optimise the service life of the powertrain).

Battery in the Cloud: As more electric cars join fleets the ability to accurately monitor their battery is becoming significantly more important for fleet operators. Battery in the cloud can detect anomalies in the battery and it can monitor stress factors during driving and charging. The data allows the degradation of the battery to be predicted and monitored, and it can produce a usage certificate that explains the battery’s state of health. Battery in the cloud provides fleet managers with daily information about their fleet.

Usage Certificate to Go: Using data from an ODB2 dongle, Usage Certificate to Go is a retrofit device that’s useful in helping fleets resell their electric vehicles. It analyses the battery’s state of health and generates a certificate. It can increase the vehicle’s operational availability by predicting problems. It can also optimise the residual value of the car.

Maintenance and Repair: Fleet managers face challenges in tracking maintenance needs and addressing vehicle issues promptly. Timely intervention and optimised workshop planning are essential to maximising fleet uptime. Bosch can help businesses with this by optimising and reducing workshop visits, as well as revealing the real-time status of the fleet. Bosch can help to reduce maintenance costs by promptly intervening when issues arise.

Agustin Laurenz Arguello, Business Development Manager at Bosch UK, said: “What makes our solutions stand-out is that Bosch works closely with vehicle manufacturers on a wide variety of technology and components. This gives us advanced know-how when it comes to automotive hardware and software and how the two integrate. We know our fleet customers don’t just want more data. It’s about applying that data to act quickly and intelligently, and Bosch has the knowledge and experience to optimise this.”

Haseeb Razaq, Commercial and Innovation Specialist at Bosch UK, said: “Through our solutions we enable fleet operators to access predictive maintenance and smart servicing for their vehicles. This keeps them up and running with less downtime and less waste. We’re excited to be attending Fleet & Mobility Live at the NEC and we hope to show this technology to our existing customers and to new contacts as well.”
