5th November 2024, Denham – Bosch will exhibit its latest hydrogen technology at the Hydrogen for Life event at The Oval in London on November 19th. Bosch is a founding partner of the free to attend event that has a business, government, and trade audience. It will have products and experts from its mobility and power divisions on hand throughout the day.

Bosch has invested significantly in hydrogen and sees it as a growth area. A key area for Bosch is hydrogen-powered mobility, with a focus on heavy goods vehicles. Last year production of its hydrogen fuel cell stack began in Germany and China and trucks powered by these hydrogen fuel cells are already on the road in various locations around the world.

Later this year Bosch will have a hydrogen engine that features Bosch injection technology on the road in commercial vehicles ahead of the start of series production. In addition, Bosch has developed a hydrogen-engined racing car in partnership with Ligier Automotive. The car will make its first UK appearance when it is on display at Hydrogen for Life.

Bosch is investing heavily in solid oxide fuel cells, SOFCs, which generate heat and energy. SOFC systems can be used to power commercial buildings, industrial locations, data centers, clinics, universities, electric vehicle charging stations, and even urban neighbourhoods. A single SOFC system generates 10kW of power, which is enough to provide more than 20 four-person households with electricity. It is also fuel flexible, so it can be powered by hydrocarbon fuels, such as natural gas or biomethane.

Bosch has used its expertise to develop a hydrogen-powered cooking hob. One of the benefits of green hydrogen is that it does not produce any carbon monoxide or CO2. Bosch presented the hydrogen hob at the EuroCucina event in Milan in April.

Each of these products, the electrolyser stack and fuel cell for commercial vehicles, a hydrogen engine, the Bosch-Ligier racing car, an SOFC unit, and the hydrogen-powered cooking hob, will be on display at Hydrogen for Life

Hydrogen for Life includes an exhibition area, presentations and keynote speakers. Bosch associates who will be presenting at the event include Arun Srinivasan, Head of Bosch Mobility UK, who will discuss the role of the Automotive Council in empowering hydrogen and future fuels in decarbonising transport, and Dr Andreas Kufferath, who will discuss hydrogen mobility and in particular will explain the advantages of the hydrogen combustion engine.
