In October 2017 Bosch associates from the UK Legal, Controlling and Communications teams spent the day volunteering at the Chiltern Open Air Museum. The museum was founded in 1976 with the purpose of re-erecting disused, historical buildings, so that they can be preserved and enjoyed by future generations. Nowadays the museum hosts many school trips, providing an interactive educational environment for children to learn about a variety of subjects, including science, history and literacy.

The volunteer group provided support on various projects including making decorations for the annual Halloween event, and clearing an overgrown woodland area. Despite the bad weather all team members got stuck in, and the group were treated to a bonfire to toast some marshmallows on at the end of the day.

Lindengate Charity

On 31st May 2019, 20 Bosch associates from the Original Equipment (OE) division gathered to volunteer at a local charity. Lindengate is a mental health charity that offers specialised gardening activities to help those with mental health needs in their continuing recovery. It was founded in 2012 by Charlie and Sian who shared a dream to create a garden where people could find solace and hope. At the 5 acre site, the ‘Gardeners’ (their term for service-users) work alongside staff who offer support and the opportunity to escape some of the stressors of daily life.

The volunteer group spent the day clearing wild growth to the front and side of the main entrance to the charity. The object of this was to create flower beds to plant Sunflowers, which, when grown and flowering, would make an attractive sight to visitors. The team worked very hard and within a few hours all weeds, wild plants and nettles had been cut down and dug out.

Lindengate are always looking for volunteers and have many open days and events running throughout the summer. Details can be found on their website. www.lindengate.org
