IET Faraday Challenge Days

Reading Time: 5 Minutes

The IET Faraday Challenge is an annual engineering based competition for schools across the UK. The competition gives students aged 12-13 the opportunity to research, design and make prototype solutions for real-world engineering problems.

Bosch has supported the IET Faraday Challenge Days since 2016, and sends engineers to the challenge day events to give expert advice and guidance to the students. By doing this we hope to inspire the next generation to explore the career opportunities available within engineering.

The 2018 Faraday Challenge Final took place at Thorpe Park. Watch the highlights video to find out more about the day. Video: IET

The 2017-18 season was the biggest season to date! The 2017-18 season of Faraday Challenge Days has seen 167 events take place across the county, with 480 schools and 5670 students involved.

In its 10th anniversary year the Faraday Challenge partnered with Thorpe Park to give students an adrenalin packed challenge where they had to design a new attraction for the theme park and make a working prototype of one element of their design which had to include a circuit.

We enjoyed working with young people to challenge engineering stereotypes and raising awareness for all the varied careers in engineering.
