We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, ambitious and experienced Engineer to join our Engineering Team and to be responsible for the full product development life cycle from initial concept through detailed design, manufacture, test and support of commissioning and installation. The ideal candidate will continuously develop our machines to improve performance, and reduce costs as well as leading customer projects to ensure total customer satisfaction.

Your contribution to something big

  • Designing with a range of manufacturing techniques particularly sheet metal, fabrications, machined components, stainless steel and engineering plastics
  • Direct design work on customer projects
  • Attend specification meetings with customers, providing authoritative contribution regarding the mechanical design aspects of the project
  • Overall responsibility for all mechanical aspects of projects, providing technical guidance to internal and external customers as necessary
  • Completing engineering design on time to the project plan
  • Carry out risk assessments on machinery
  • Document and archiving all project related material
  • Attend project meetings and update the project managers on engineering progress
  • Liaise with all departments to ensure the overall project is completed on time and budget
  • Provide assistance to Assembly personnel during the build phase of a project
  • Provide support to Sales and the Applications Manager regarding concept drawings, carton appraisals, design hours, parts costs and assembly hours

What distinguishes you

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree or minimum HNC plus 5 years’ experience in Engineering environment
  • 3D modelling skills (preferably Solid Works) and the ability to produce detailed 2D production drawings taking into account tolerance
  • Experience in designing automated electro-mechanical equipment
  • An understanding of the machinery directive and CE marking regulations
  • Problem solving/trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to design for manufacture and assembly
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and analysis
  • Attention to detail and creativity
  • Experience of value engineering practices
  • Design of equipment for harsh environments and high reliability
  • Previous paper/carton feeding mechanism experience is desirable
  • Understanding of Servo motion technology is desirable
