This 2 year fixed-term role is to provide machine/automation control software engineering support for the Applications department, with day to day duties and ongoing projects. The successful candidate will form part of a small and closely knit team at our Cirencester Technology Centre. The size and structure of the department are such that the successful applicant will have exposure to all areas of our controls business and to contribute and assist in finding controls solutions for our customers. The duties and responsibilities outlined below are therefore not exclusive, and other ad hoc tasks and projects will arise

Your responsibilities may include:

Assisting Applications Engineers in supporting key customers

Assisting with the review of departmental processes and procedures

Providing controls support for project related business

Software & system design

Building design specifications from customer meetings

Support of the Open Core Engineering initiative

Servo Drive calculations for customer enquiries

Your profile:

A new or recent graduate in an area closely related to controls and systems engineering

Knowledge of control system theory; including electric and hydraulic drives

Knowledge of programmable logic controllers, computer numerical control and programming knowledge such as C++; Visual Basic; Java or similar would also be an advantage

PLC CodeSys IEC 61131-3 knowledge and some experience with IL(Instruction List); ST (Structured text); LD (Ladder diagram); FBD (Function block diagram)and SFC (Sequential function chart) a definite advantage.

Good attention to detail, decision making and problem solving skills

Ability to communicate with personnel at all levels of the business and with the utmost discretion

Able to use own initiative with the ability to work on your own and as part of a team

Able to work well within a team environment and have an open and friendly nature

Computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
