Bosch celebrates 100 years in USA
The Bosch Group celebrated its 100th anniversary in the US on August 31, 2006. What began with a sales office for magneto ignition devices in New York City in September 1906 is today the Bosch Group's largest market outside Germany. The Bosch Group's other North American operations are also controlled from the US. Bosch sales in the USA have quadrupled in the past ten years.

Bosch continues Formula Student sponsorship
Bosch has continued sponsorship of the 2006 Formula Student competition, which, this year, took place over the weekend of the 6-8 July 2006 at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome and Proving Ground, Leicestershire, UK. This is the second year Bosch has sponsored the event as it continues to build the relationship with Europe’s largest automotive engineering challenge, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and supported by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

Bosch to build new semiconductor fabrication plant in Reutlingen, near Stuttgart
The Bosch Group is investing 550 million euros in the construction of a new manufacturing facility for 200 millimetre semiconductors at its site in Reutlingen, near Stuttgart. Construction of the facility is to begin in the autumn of 2007. Rollout of production is planned for mid-2009. The plant will have a total capacity of up to 1,000 silicon wafers per day, equivalent to a daily production volume of up to one million microchips. 'In investing heavily in state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, we are securing the long-term future of our international automotive electronics business,' said Franz Fehrenbach, chairman of the bosch Board of Management. Bosch has been manufacturing 150 millimetre semiconductors in Reutlingern for 10 years now. The location can therefore draw on a wealth of expertise and has a good infrastructure.

Bosch supports implementation of the EU Road Safety Charter
Since signing the EU Road Safety Charter two years ago, Bosch has stepped up efforts to increase the public's awareness of the life-saving value of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Bosch has set a fitment rate target of 50 percent by 2010 and recent figures highlight that the company is on track to achieve this goal - the current ESP fitment rate across Europe stands at 39 percent, an increas of 10 percent over the last two years.
