In 2006 and 2007, a total of some 50 million euros will be invested for additioanl production equipment. Increasing demand for the LI-X type alternator produced in Cardiff triggered this expansion. In a first investment phase for this product, another 25 million euros were invested at the plant from 2002 to 2005.
Production of the new generator LI-X alternator started in Cardiff in 2004. It is a high power, compact and very efficient alternative to traditional generators, and is installed in a wide range of passenger cars which require an increasing amount of energy to power on-board components and systems. The Bosch Cardiff plant started alternator production in 1991 and has produced over 50 million alternators since then.
In the UK, the Bosch Group has more than 4900 associates and achieved total sales of 2 billion euros. (1.3 billion GBP) in 2005. 11 Bosch sites in the UK manufacture and market automotive technology, industrial technology as well as consumer goods and building technology.
