New injection systems training and development programme from Bosch
The significant growth in the number of diesel-engined vehicles – an increase of 60% since 2000 and still rising – along with improvements in petrol injection systems, lies behind the introduction of a new training and development programme from Bosch.
The programme covers modern fuel injection systems and aims to develop the skills and competencies of technicians on system diagnosis and repair. Successful completion leads to Bosch certification and recognition that confirms the workshop’s ability in this area to its customers.
There are five modules that can be taken over a two-year period and the packages include training, equipment, tools, technical support and information. Participants must complete a minimum of three modules to finish the programme successfully and be awarded certification. The five modules are:
- Modern vehicle diagnostics
- Gasoline injection systems
- VE-EDC diesel systems
- Common rail diesel systems
- Unit injector diesel systems
Each module requires attendance at a one-day training course, covering both the theory and practical aspects of injection systems. Flexible content enables participants to set their own rate of progress and choose subjects on which they wish to focus.
The programme comes with the full backing of Bosch - the world’s foremost supplier of fuel injection systems. It focuses on the core systems and diagnostic skills required when working with modern vehicles. Systems functionality, components and diagnostic procedures are all covered, with a strong emphasis on delegates developing a sound practical understanding. The use of a wide range of tools and equipment on the programme offers a variety of options to meet different workshop requirements.
To establish a workshop into the programme, Bosch requires participants to sign a Letter of Intent to confirm their bespoke, modular requirements. No formal qualifications are required to enrol on the programme, but participants are expected to have an interest in petrol and diesel systems. They also need to understand the importance of developing their skills and knowledge, including the use of diagnostic equipment and tools.
To reduce travelling time and avoid the cost of overnight accommodation, the training takes place at a variety of venues around the UK, selected to ensure that delegates have access to the programme locally.
