Authorities approve Bosch - Denso diesel particulate filter joint venture

Start of production planned for 2009
Manufacturing facility to be built in Wroclaw, Poland

Robert Bosch GmbH has established a 50-50 joint venture with Denso Corporation to develop and manufacture diesel particulate filters in Wroclaw, Poland, based on an agreement announced in October 2006. All relevant authorities have given their approval for the plan. The new joint venture will be named ‘Advanced Diesel Particulate Filters Sp.zo.o.’ (ADIF). The objective of the venture is to jointly manufacture highly efficient and cost-effective diesel particulate filters using Cordierite ceramics as of 2009. Bosch and Denso will then market the filters independently.

Initially, a branch office for the joint venture will be established in Kariya, Japan, focusing on filter development and production preparation. The joint venture will start with initial equity of €8 million and will begin the planning of an engineering and manufacturing location in Wroclaw, Poland, where Bosch already has a production plant for braking systems. The joint venture will be led by two directors, Teruo Komori from Bosch and Masakazu Tanaka from Denso.
