Bosch presents third generation fully integrated programmable dual channel current regulator

Third generation Bosch current regulators have twice as much control accuracy as their predecessors. The first arrival of this generation is the CG208, a fully integrated dual channel current regulator, which maintains output current reference value at precisely 1 percent, even under full load. The ASIC module (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) is provided in the TQFP housing, which is just as robust as it is compact. It can be used for operating voltages between 6.3 and 42 volts and delivers constant current in the regulation range between 0.6 milliamperes and 1.2 amperes.

Bosch and Denso Establish Joint Venture to develop and manufacture Diesel Particulate Filters

Robert Bosch GmbH, Stuttgart/Germany, and Denso Corporation, Kariya/Japan, have agreed to set up a fifty-fifty joint venture in eastern Europe to develop and manufacture diesel particulate filters. The joint venture is planned for establishment in early 2007.

Euro 5 for commercial vehicles already achieved with Bosch exhaust treatment systems

Bosch systems for engine exhaust treatment are making commercial vehicles even cleaner and more economical. The "Denoxtronic" metering system from Bosch, in conjunction with an SCR catalytic converter (Selective Catalytic Reduction), helps to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 85 percent. At the same time, the engine can be configured to consume up to five percent less fuel as compared with other approaches to reducing harmful emissions. Particulate emissions can, moreover, be reduced by up to 40 percent by optimizing processes within the engine.

Bosch at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show 2006

The Bosch Group remains on course for the growth target it has set itself for this year. Total sales for 2006 are expected to rise by some five percent to roughly €43.5 billion. Of this total, some €27 billion will be accounted for by Automotive Technology, its largest business sector, which will record an increase in sales of between three and four percent this year. This was the message announced today at the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hannover by Dr. Bernd Bohr, the board of management member responsible for the group's automotive business.

400 million Lambda Sensors from Bosch

The 400-millionth lambda sensor recently rolled off the production line at Bosch. Bosch first marketed the exhaust sensor 30 years ago. It was an innovation that facilitated the regulated catalytic converter to make gasoline engines extremely clean. "Each year Bosch manufactures more than 40 million lambda sensors in Germany, the USA, Korea and China which makes it the world's market leader" explains Dr. Steffen Berns, Executive Vice President Engineering for Gasoline Systems at Bosch.

High torque and high revs: Gasoline direct injection from Bosch in the new Audi TT

Bosch is supplying the gasoline direct injection equipment for the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine in the new Audi TT. The combination of direct injection and turbocharging turns the engine into a high-torque, high-revving power pack. The gasoline direct injection improves the torque curves of the turbocharged engines over the entire range of engine speeds. Acceleration from a standing start, in particular, is improved, and the maximum torque is available even at low engine speeds. Driving is therefore more enjoyable, power is available at any speed, and the efficiency of the engine is increased.

Bosch and MANN+HUMMEL to Acquire Purolator Filter Business from ArvinMeritor

The Bosch Group and MANN+HUMMEL plan to acquire the Purolator filter business from ArvinMeritor on or about 1 April 2006. The business will be continued as a 50:50 joint venture company from that date. The acquisition covers all Purolator oil, air fuel and cabin filters. The company has around 1,000 associates. At its site in Fayetteville, North Carolina, it produces filters for both the OE and aftermarket sectors, and at its site in Salt Lake City, Utah, it maintains a small distribution centre. Sales are focused on the North American market. In 2005, Purolator recorded sales of $267 million USD. The acquisition is subject to approval by the relevant authorities.

Bosch Produces 100 Million Micromechanical Sensors in 2005 - World-Class Performance

In 2005, Bosch produced 100 million micromechanical sensors – more than ever before. When production of the miniature sensors started in 1995, a modest 1.35 million were manufactured and within five years this figure had increased to 49 million. In total, over the past 10 years, more than 500 million micromechanical sensors have left the production facility in Reutlingen, Germany.

Upgraded ABS Improves Braking Performance

A smaller, lighter and quieter antilock braking system (ABS), which further reduces vehicle braking distances, has been developed by Bosch and will start to be fitted to cars within the next few months. Antilock braking systems prevent the locking of a vehicle’s wheels under emergency braking conditions allowing the driver to retain steering control.

The installation rate for ESP (Electronic Stability Program) systems on new cars sold in the UK continues to climb and now one in every three new cars sold in Britain is fitted with this important active safety technology.

Upgraded Bosch ABS Goes into Production

Smaller, lighter, quieter and more efficient

Bosch has started producing a new up rated version of its Antilock Braking System (ABS). The unit is 20% smaller, lighter, quieter and more efficient in operation than previous versions. The new Bosch ABS 8.1 unit has also succeeded in further reducing braking distances, particularly on slippery surfaces, and produces less brake pedal vibrations. "This new version meets the objectives of the OEMs for a greater reduction in weight and installation space of every single unit" explains Klaus Meder, vice president development of the Bosch Division Chassis Systems Control.

Brazilian Innovation Prize Awarded for Bosch Alternative Fuel Concept

Bosch has been awarded with the Brazilian Ministry for Science and Technology’s product innovation prize – The ‘Technological Innovation Finep Award’ – for the ‘Flex Fuel’ engine management system. The award-winning Flex Fuel technology, developed by Bosch, enables vehicles to be fuelled by petrol, alcohol or a mixture of the two. Bosch and Knorr Bremse To Cooperate With Driver Assistance Systems for Commercial Vehicles

Robert Bosch GmbH has entered into an alliance with Knorr Bremse Systeme für Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH to produce driver assistance systems for commercial vehicles.

Initially, Bosch will provide Knorr Bremse with components and software for the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system which has been used in passenger vehicles since 2000. Knorr Bremse will adapt and develop the existing system for application in commercial vehicles with pneumatic brakes and this will be marketed worldwide under the Bendix and Knorr Bremse brands. The systems will be available through original equipment as well as aftermarket, including retrofitting and as spare parts.

Bosch opens new development and manufacturing facility in China

At the opening of a new development and manufacturing facility in Wuxi, China, Franz Fehrenbach, the Chairman of the Bosch Group Board of Management announced intentions to significantly expand activities into the region.The number of Bosch manufacturing facilities in the People's Republic of China has doubled to 20 in the past five years. At the end of 2004, Bosch had invested some €550 million in the establishment and expansion of activities. The company now plans to invest a further €650 million during the next two years across the country. "Bosch has a strong focus on China. Bosch expands activities in Czech Republic: New production facility opened in Jihlava

After a ten-month construction period, a further stage of extension work has been completed to extend the Bosch Diesel s.r.o. Jihlava facility in the Czech Republic. Since Bosch began activities in Jihlava in 1993, more than €550 million have been invested in the facility. Bosch has invested more than €110 million in the new building, including machinery and plant and, at nearly 250 metres long and more than 100 wide, it is one of the largest production halls in the global Bosch manufacturing network.
